A reclusive woodsman makes a silent journey through the wilderness to do a harmless bit of ice fishing. But when he finds a lone red shoe on the middle of a frozen lake, the man’s isolated existence turns increasingly paranoid. What follows is a haunting examination of a broken man’s life as he attempts to seek solace in the discovery of a mysterious woman he finds sleeping in the snow.

From the blog
Kafka

“A book should serve as an ice-axe to break the frozen sea within us.” ~ Franz Kafka

I guess in many ways Kafka’s quote applies to Trophy.

Trophy’s script was simple, beautiful, thoughtful, layered with meaning  and was what drew many talented people to the project. It appealed to the issues of post colonialism and challenged political correctness on a very uncomfortable but I feel necessary level. If you watch Trophy and feel uncomfortable, I would say we have succeeded to plant the necessary questions.

If you do get a chance to see Trophy in a festival I hope you will vote,  give us feedback and carry on the dialogue either here or visit the links under spotlight: have your review published on B-side and IMDB!

Peace,

Stefanie
